Oh no! You’ve waited all year for your Disney World vacation and it rains! What do you do? Thankfully, in most cases, you just wait about 20 minutes and the rain will stop. In Orlando, a daily afternoon shower is to be expected. They can be strong but they are over quickly. But what do you do when it’s raining and it’s not expected to stop such as when a tropical storm blows through or, worse, stalls over Central Florida? Don’t worry! Your Disney World vacation is not ruined! Grab some ponchos and head out to some of the wonderful, indoor attractions that are available throughout the parks and Downtown Disney. There is plenty of fun to be had!
Remember, lots of people won’t venture out into Disney usa disney plus World in the rain which means NO LINES! Grab your poncho and head to the parks. In heavy rain some outdoor rides may close but many of the popular Disney World attractions will be open with no wait.
The rides at the Magic Kingdom are close together and most have covered queues making it the perfect park for a rainy day. For indoor attractions try The Hall of Presidents, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan’s Flight, or Small World. If you like shopping, hit Main Street USA. You can walk from one end of the street to the other through the shops — all indoors.
The Land Pavilion — Here you will find Soarin’, Living with the Land, and the Circle of Life attractions and the Behind the Seeds Tour of the hydroponic gardens.
Innoventions — TONS of interactive, indoor fun. Kids can keep happily busy in here for hours.
Also, try Spaceship Earth, Mission: Space, Ellen’s Energy Adventure and Club Cool. Stay away from the World Showcase. There are lots of outdoor walking between pavilions.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
A little more outdoor walking between attractions but tons of indoor things to do like The Great Movie Ride, Muppet Vision 3D, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Star Tours, Magic of Disney Animation and Toy Story Mania.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Probably the least rain-friendly park but there are still some things to enjoy indoors such as It’s Tough To Be A Bug, Finding Nemo The Musical and Festival of the Lion King.
Downtown Disney Marketplace — A great place for a rainy day. The shops are very close together which mean just a short dash from one to the other.
Downtown Disney West Side — Try Disney Quest for an interactive, indoor theme park adventure or take in a movie at the AMC Theatres.
You can also explore the monorail resorts (The Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian). Each has unique shops, cafes and are wonderful just to walk around and look at. Plus, you can get from one to the other on the monorail without ever getting wet!
Rain at Disney World does not have to put a damper on your fun! Whether you choose to visit the resorts, the theme parks or Downtown Disney you can still have a great time!
